Association economist recounts getting trapped on deadly Metro ride American Chemistry Council Chief Economist Kevin Swift left work early Monday hoping to get in a swim at his local YMCA, but instead ended up trapped on the "most harrowing" commute in his life. In an interview with the Frederick, Va., Free Lance-Star, Swift recounted the roughly 45 minutes he spent trapped on a dark D.C. Metro train after an apparent electrical problem caused the train to stop in a tunnel and fill with smoke. At least one person died in the incident.
